How to use conditional fields

Symptoms

To avoid empty AD fields appearing in your Exclaimer Mail Disclaimers formatted email disclaimer, signature, etc you can add a Conditional Field. For example, you want to include a mobile telephone number field in your organization’s email messages from your AD users. Some of your AD users don’t have a work mobile telephone number so you want them to default to their telephone number field instead.

Resolution

In the disclaimer editor -

• Choose "Fields", "Advanced", "Conditional Field" and a conditional field will be inserted:
  
• From the Properties pane on the right set the "If" property to "Mobile". This is the Active Directory field whose content you wish to test
• Click the ellipses against the "Then" property. This is the data that will be output if the field being tested is not blank. Enter "Mobile:" and from the Fields dropdown add the Mobile field
• Choose OK to close the "Then" editor
• Click the ellipses against the "Else" property. This is the data that will be output if the field being tested is blank. Enter "Office:" and from the Fields dropdown add the Telephone number field
• Choose OK to close the "Else" editor

Your Conditional Field should be setup as below:

Click the "Preview" button. Note that for users that have a work mobile telephone number this is displayed:

For users that don't have a work mobile telephone number the standard telephone number is displayed:

More Information

The Conditional Field provides the same if...else...endif functionality as the Mail Utilities product. In addition, the "Then" and "Else" editors allow you to include a combination of Active Directory fields, images, RSS feeds and text when the Active Directory field is or isn't present.
