Symptoms

Messages that contain East Asian characters and/or right-to-left languages do not have any content when received.

Cause

The files for East Asian languages are not installed on the server that has Mail Utilities installed.

Resolution

Install the files for East Asian languages and/or complex script and right-to-left languages on the server where Mail Utilities is installed.
Note: Installing the files for East Asian languages will require 230 MB or more of available disk space, installing files for complex script and right-to-left languages will require 10 MB or more of available disk space. After the installation, a reboot of the server will be required. You may also be prompted to insert the Windows installation or Service Pack disk.

  1. Open the Regional and Language Options from the Windows Control Panel. Alternatively, click Start, click Run, type intl.cpl click OK
  2. Once the Regional and Language Options window appears, click the Languages tab
  3. Click the check box Install files for East Asian languages
  4. Click OK to the "You chose to install the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean language files...." warning message
  5. Click the check box Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai)
  6. Click OK to the "You chose to install the Arabic, Armenian, Georgian, Hebrew, Indic, Thai and Vietnamese language files...." warning message
  7. Click OK to close the Regional and Language Options window to begin the installation
  8. Once the installation has completed, click OK to restart the server
