Sent Items are not updated when Cached Exchange Mode is enabled in Microsoft Outlook

Scenario:

You have enabled Sent Items Update in Exclaimer Signature Manager Exchange Edition so that so that a signature is visible when the sender views an email in their Sent Items folder.

When Cached Exchange Mode is enabled in Microsoft Outlook, no signature is visible on the sent item.

If the same sent item is viewed in Outlook Web Access or Cached Exchange Mode is disabled, the signature is visible on the sent item.

Explanation:

The Sent Items Update feature will only update the sent item that resides in the users mailbox on the Microsoft Exchange server.

When Microsoft Outlook has Cached Exchange Mode enabled, in some circumstances the data visible in the Sent Items folder is not the most up to date data that is visible in the mailbox on the Microsoft Exchange server. Instead, the data being displayed resides on the user’s local computer in an Outlook Data file (.OST).

If Microsoft Outlook has not synchronized data from the mailbox to the OST file or vice versa, the data displayed in Microsoft Outlook will be out of date and not the most recent. Only until Microsoft Outlook has synchronized with the mailbox, that the most up to date data will be displayed to the user.

You can confirm if Sent Items Update has updated the sent item or if Microsoft Outlook is displaying out of date data by logging into the user’s mailbox using Outlook Web Access.

Various causes can result in this behaviour such as large mailboxes or OST files, or particular add-ins installed in Microsoft Outlook.

If reducing the size of the Sent Items folder or disabling Microsoft Outlook add-ins does not resolve the issue, further investigation will be required in the environment to identify why Microsoft Outlook has not synchronized with the Microsoft Exchange server.
